2012 - Three quarters of a century..... This year both of us celebrated our seventy fifth birthdays and surprisingly, we really don't believe it. We are both fit and active, although Patricia had a catastrophic start to the new year. First she had a serious reaction to a pain killer prescribed for her after some minor oral surgery, then four weeks later, slipped on black ice and broke her left arm in two places while on one of her early morning walks, landing her both times at the emergency room. All this in the first month of the year! Happily she is now fully recovered and back to her usual activities including walking, aerobics, golf and biking. Bruce decided that his slightly more sedentary lifestyle is a far more safer.

Year of the Automobile
Bruce decided to rejuvenate our motoring stable this year, so now all our previous cars have been replaced. The Audi was upgraded to a new one, the Jaguar XKR went to Norway and was replaced with a Jaguar XK8 convertible, the XJ6 replaced with a Jaguar Vanden Plas and his beloved E-type was sold after twenty six years to a buyer in San Francisco. After nine years we re-purchased the MGB from our friend who had driven it less than a thousand miles in the intervening period! (see left). In June, Jaguar USA invited Bruce to participate in their 'Jaguar Alive' Experience and his 'extreme acceleration' course can be seen here Great fun!

Visit to Mount Rainier
In September, along with other members of our car group, we made a three day motoring trip to Mount Rainier, staying at the famous Paradise Inn, Paradise Inn is a historic hotel built in 1916 at 5,400 feet on the south slope of Mount Rainier in Mount Rainier National Park, and a delightful place to stay. Meadows in full bloom and miles of trails that led to all types of adventures. The hotel was very helpful in accomodating our group of twelve at one long dining table and so we enjoyed a real party atmosphere. Many of our friends on this trip were those who had accompaned us last year for the Goodwood Revival event in Chichester, England at about the same time of the year.

Winding down for the Holiday Season
We so much enjoyed our trip to our friends Marty and Gail's home this summer on Lake Coeur d'Alene that we decided to acquire our own sail boat, a Ranger 20 which we are keeping here on Lake Whatcom just steps from our home. It is great to be sailing again after quite a while. The boat is now winterized until next spring which reminds us that Christmas is not far away. We have had an active year shared with family and friends alike. Once again we will spend Christmas with Andrew and his family. Our twenty two day cruise through the Panama Canal will be next April and we look forward to that. Meanwhile, we wish all of you a wonderful holiday season and good health, happiness and prosperity in 2013.

Love and best wishes,

Patricia and Bruce
