2002 in retrospect

Retirement has still not offered us the anticipated prospect of long lazy days watching the clouds roll by. Indeed we are still continuing the process of rearranging our lifestyle, just as we were last year.

Returning from Hawaii in the Spring found us catching up with several projects at our new home in Sudden Valley that we did not have time to complete before. These were mainly external projects like new sundecks, a new patio to enhance our view of Lake Whatcom and some landscaping. The summer months were exceptionally warm and sunny this year, so we were able to complete everything satisfactorily, although a local family of deer seemed more than interested in our new plants!

October found us traveling back to Kona just as the Autumn chills appeared in the Pacific Northwest.

We are currently considering selling our condo here in Hawaii and moving back to the mainland full time. We have pretty well decided that running two homes three thousand miles apart is becoming quite impractical! We can always take a long winter trip somewhere the sun shines. We'll keep you posted on how this plan evolves over the next few months.

Meanwhile we have had the pleasure of the company of quite a few friends visiting with us over the last two months from England, Canada and of course, the USA. They have all visited many of the local beaches and the favorite seems to be that where all the turtles (Honu), like to congregate.

With best Aloha,

Patricia and Bruce
