2003 - Busiest retirement year so far!

In our third year of living in two homes three thousand miles apart, sequentially closing one down for six months at a time to live in the other, we finally decided this summer to sell the condo in Hawaii and move back full time to Sudden Valley. The economic impracticalities together with higher levels of airport security causing more arduous travel conditions were certainly both factors. However, being close to family and friends here in the Pacific Northwest were the major contributors to our decision.

So here we are back in Sudden Valley, once again enjoying the four seasons of the year instead of constant sunshine and temperatures in the high eighties! Getting acclimatized to the first real winter in three years will be interesting. So far, we are both fit and well. Patricia still walks about five to six miles most every day with two of her friends. We now plan to take some interesting vacations in search of the sun during the winter months.

Grandson Kyle is growing fast and has the characteristically unending energy of an almost six year old. Apart from playing ice hockey, Kyle already has an orange belt in kick boxing and is taking swimming lessons! It's great to see him more frequently now and of course this will be our first Christmas together in a while.

Andrew and Leona made some real estate changes this year and have moved to a nice home with a good sized backyard. Of course, Kyle has been lobbying for a pet now that they have all that extra space. His overworked parents are already running ragged transporting him from one activity to another. It's a good job that 'Cody' (the new feline addition to the family), can take good care of himself and has settled in perfectly.

We wish all relatives and friends a peaceful and joyous holiday season and a very happy New 2004 Year during these unsettling and ill advised times. Look for more news in early spring!

Love and best wishes to all,

Bruce and Patricia
